Culturenet Cymru wants to hear about interesting projects that are taking place or being planned in your community. These suggestions could become the next project to be featured on the all-Wales Communities Cymru website.

Why Digitise?

Put simply, digitisation is the process of creating a digital copy of an original. This is usually done through scanning or digital photography. Video clips and sound recordings can also be digitised. These digital files can be displayed on a website for all to see. Digitisation projects are becoming increasingly popular as they offer communities an excellent way of documenting their local heritage, preserving cultural identity, encouraging tourism and sharing their heritage with a wider audience. Digitisation is an excellent way to encourage participation from all members of your community.

What we want

We are looking for stimulating and original ideas, which reflect life in your community. Projects could include, a photographic record of a local regeneration programme, historical documents that illustrate an important period in local history or a good-works scheme being carried out by a local youth group.

What we can offer

Our aim is to enable your group to document its project and get the work on the web for the world to see. Help available could include, practical advice and training on photography and scanning, loan of equipment and self-help manuals for your group to keep.
